Make Hope Possible Presents

An Audience with George Monbiot

Glasgow – 29/4/26

George Monbiot is surely Britain’s best journalist. In a lifetime of investigations, he has survived by eating rats in West Papua’s rainforest, been declared legally dead in Kenya, and written 13 books, alongside his popular Guardian column.

He will be joining us to discuss his most recent book The Invisible Doctrine: The Secret History of Neoliberalism.

FAQs

The venue is part of Glasgow School of Art Student Union. It meets basic accessibility requirements. A full access guide is available on the GSA Student Association website.

Some access needs are personal and specific, and we want to make sure everyone can access our events regardless of their needs or abilities. Please email admin@makehopepossible.org if you feel we should know about your requirements so that we can do our best to accommodate you on the day.

We use Eventbrite to help new audiences find us, but they charge significant service fees. When you book here on Make Hope Possible, we avoid those costs, allowing us to invest more in future events.

No. To save paper and hassle, we operate a digital-only check-in. Just show your confirmation email on your smartphone at the door. We also have a master guest list, so as long as you have photo ID, we can find you.

This is a voluntary higher-tier price for those who can afford it. By choosing this, you directly subsidise the Next Gen (£10) tickets, helping us to make our events more accessible to the next generation of radical thinkers.

Please bring your Young Scot Card, European Youth Card, or a valid photo ID showing you are under 26. We may ask to see this at the door to ensure our discounts are reaching the right people.

Yes! George Monbiot will be available to sign copies of his book, The Invisible Doctrine: The Secret History of Neoliberalism (& How It Came to Control Your Life) immediately following the Q&A. Books will be available for purchase at the venue (contactless payment preferred)

Tickets are non-refundable to ensure we can cover the costs of our speakers and venues. However, you are welcome to pass your ticket to a friend, just ensure they have the original confirmation email.

If the event can’t go ahead due to circumstances outwith our control we will endeavour to move to an alternative venue or reschedule.

If we change the date, or move the location, your ticket will remain valid for the new date. If you cannot attend the new date, you are entitled to a full refund of the face value.

If an event is cancelled in its entirety you are entitled to a full refund of the face value. We will contact you (via the email you have provided at checkout) within 14 days of cancellation.

Full terms and conditions are available here.
